    Title: Card Payments
Effective immediately, we will now be using NOCHEX as our processor for credit and debit card payments. So if you will be using a card to make your payment, be sure to select NOCHEX during checkout. You will not need an account with them, nor will you be prompted to open an account. Instead you will enter your card information on a secure page for processing.

In the past, we were unable to take card payments by Maestro, Switch/Solo except for over the phone or through Paypal. So this is a big plus and a big step ahead for us. More convenient for you the customer to boot!

    Title: New Postage Rates
Please note that this Monday, Royal Mail postage prices will go up. In light of this, I have reviewed my own postage rates as I have not changed them in the past 2 years. So effective on Monday April 7 2008, the postage charts below will come into effect.

One of the biggest changes will be that the free shipping offer will now ship by 2nd class delivery. Royal Mail aims to deliver these within 3 working days.

I will also add options for Recorded Delivery and Special Delivery. These would need to be added to the cart if you wanted to use them.

Just an FYI.... I normally ship on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Any orders that are received and paid for after 11am on these days will most likely not be posted until the next shipping day.

If you have hand selected to add Special Delivery to the cart because you need it fast, then those orders would need to be paid for by 2pm at the latest. If they are not, then I will make a special trip to the post office the next working day to send your order out. I set the deadline to allow me enough time to process and pack your order - my post office needs these to be in by 4:30pm to go out that day.

    Title: Cheques No Longer Accepted
From today, we will no longer accept personal cheques as method of payment. You may still make payment by postal money order or credit/debit card. We apologize if this is an inconvenience for you, but of late we have had problems - a few bad apples....

You may read up on our payment methods here.

Of course, this only applies to our UK customers as all other international customers are required to use Paypal or pay by card.

    Title: UPDATE - Postal Strikes
It looks like a settlement has been reached so I will resume posting as normal. However, this is still waiting approvel of an official in the union for this Monday, so fingers crossed it goes through without any snags.

    Title: Postal Strikes
As most of you in the UK know by now, the postal strikes by Royal Mail are having a major impact on small businesses/online businesses. If there was any other reasonable solution at this point, I would be doing it. However because of these strikes, there may be delays in shipping orders.

I do not like the idea of posting orders only to have them just sit and not move. Besides that, they are asking that we do not post on strike days. I am also trying to keep in mind to not post the day before a strike day. This way I can only keep my fingers crossed that any First Class packages will arrive with you the following day, or the day before the strike day. I hope that was easy to follow! =)

I will still be updating the site as much as I possibly can, and I will be sure to have all orders up-to-date and posted as soon as we have a non-strike day. Be sure to take note of any announcements at the top of the website pages regarding posting days while the strikes continues.

    Title: Holiday Notice
Thankyou to everyone that took advantage of the 99p Fat Quarter Sale!

I will be taking some time off later in August so I will not be processing any orders from August 21-27. The store will remain open however and as soon as I return on the 27th I will catch up on orders and then email. All orders should be paid by August 20 to have them shipped before we leave.

Last but not least, take a look at our latest additions in our Gallery.
Maybe you'll be inspired to dust off that sewing machine and start
    creating!

Hope you're having a great summer!

    Title: Contest Update!
It was brought to my attention by one of our customers that they had indeed submitted an entry for the contest, only to have it bounce back to them! So after waiting some time in case any others experienced the same problem, I awarded her a £20 voucher for use in the store. So our co-winner for the contest is L. Hall of Glasgow. I will be posting a photo of her entry soon in the gallery.

    CONTEST NOW CLOSED!

Unfortunately we did not receive any entries for our Father's Day contest, but I did not want this to end without a winner. So, we pulled a name at random from our mailing list for this £20 voucher to spend in our store.

The winner is A.Buckland in London! Congratulations! An email has been sent to the winner with all the details. I hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day.

    Title: Happy 1st Birthday!
This Sunday the Creative Fabrics site will be 1 year old! Now I know that I've been selling fabric much longer than that - many of you know me from eBay - but I wanted to show my appreciation to my customer's for your patronage.

So for one week only, all orders will have an automatic discount of 15%.

Gift Certificates - Are you looking for a gift for that special someone? Not sure what they might like? Well if they love sewing, why not purchase a Gift Certificate! Check out our store for more details.

    Sewing & Craft Tips
When working on a project with many tiny parts like beads/ ears/ bells/bows it's easiest to keep the parts together by putting them in a plastic container with snap on lid. It won't crush the parts and you won't loose any either. The shape of the container is firm and stays where you put it, unlike plastic bags.

Use larger containers for your bigger sewing projects to keep all your pattern pieces together. It will also keep those patchwork pieces protected and in order for when you get back to your project.

    Please Remember...

We would love to see what you have made with your purchases from our site! If you have a photo you would like to send in, please email it to me and I'll add it to the gallery!

Visit our current gallery of photos previously submitted!

    Title: Server Downtime!
Please note that we have been notified that on March 6 and 7 our server will be undergoing some major changes. This will mean that our site AND email will potentially be down for these two full days.

So, in light of this, I have decided to have my own mini-vacation for these two days! =) Actually, I will be working around the house and starting on some spring cleaning.

Please keep this in mind should you be unable to reach us via email, or you find our website is inaccessable.

    Thankyou!

We finally have our broadband working at our new house... yeah! So now the real work begins after the move! I only have a few orders that are slightly delayed, but those should be in the post tomorrow, and back to normal with any orders since Tuesday. Thankyou all for your patience!

    Title: Order Status
We had a hard, grueling but successful move, however still no broadband connection. For now, I'm using a pay-as-you-go dial-up to download email, and just take care of the necessities. If you don't have a broadband connection, you don't know what you are missing out on! This dial-up is so slow. But, one good thing is that you don't want to spend too long on the computer!

All the fabric will be unpacked today, and I will start getting orders ready. Still trying to figure out where my rotary cutter is! So I thank you all for your patience, and please know that I will be posting these orders just as quickly as I can!

    Title: IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!
Due to our house move, I am expecting to not be online from approx November 15 - 20. After that, until we have our broadband connected, my time online will be very rare. So please be aware that while Creative Fabrics will remain open, there may be some delay in answering emails and processing orders. This may take until the end of the month, but we're hoping it is much sooner than that.

Thankyou for your patience. We promise to be back online and in business full swing as soon as we possibly can.

    Title: Changes to Postage
As of today, I am making some changes to our policies regarding postage to our International Customers. This will affect all orders outside the UK and Northern Ireland.

Effective immediately, postage will be based on the charts as shown in our Shipping Information page. Orders that are over £32 will be billed separately for the postage. This charge will reflect the postage cost plus insurance to cover your order should it become lost or damaged.

Also, please please! be aware that you may incur some customs charges depending on the value of your order! If you plan on placing a large order, I suggest looking into what sort of charges you may incur. I will not be held responsible for any customs charges or taxes on your end, and please do not expect me to know what they will be.

And lastly, for our customers here in the UK, I do highly suggest that you use Recorded Delivery for your purchases. Because many of the fabric prints that I have are hard to find, they may not be replaceable should your order become lost. At least with Recorded Delivery you will have a package that is trackable, and more likely to be delivered to you.

    Changes in the Air

I wanted to give everyone the heads up as to some changes that will be happening with our fabric site. Not only will we be giving the site a new look, but we will be having a name change as well. I've decided our new site will be called Creative Fabrics, as a division of UK Yankee Crafts. This will also involve a new web address.

We will try to make this happen as smoothly as possible. I will post any little changes or developments in right here in our Blog.
Please note that this only pertains to the fabric site. All other sites such as the Forum, Ebay Shop, etc will remain the same.

    Referral Bonus!

Remeber that we do have a referral program in which you can receive a 15% discount voucher! By referring a customer to us, you will earn the voucher when they place an order.

All they need to do is give us your name and email address in the comments box when placing the order, OR, they can forward the referral email to us. We just want to make sure to give the voucher to the right person!

You must be registered with us and have placed at least one order for you to receive your discount. Only one coupon per order per new referral please.

    New Craft Directory

We have started a 'Topsites' for crafters in the UK. What this is is basically a directory of crafts either right here in the UK, or by crafters that will ship to the UK. So whether you are looking to get a bit of free advertisement for your craft related site, or you would like to be able to see exactly who will ship to here, I invite you to check it out - UK Yankee Crafts Topsites for the UK

    Title: New Topsite List
I've started a list for Topsites in the UK. This directory will be of sites in the UK in the arts and crafts genre. I am also accepting sites around the world that offer shipping to the UK. If it is a commercial site, then the majority of their items must be handcrafted.

I think this will be a wonderful directory and I hope that you will continue to visit it regularly to check for updates and to show your support for these talented people. If you have a site you would like to list, then please do so!

    Title: Project Gallery
We now have a project gallery where you can view other crafters projects, and even upload your own photos to show off. At the moment, this is a free version that I am using which only holds 50 images. We will see about doing the paid one depending on the amount of interest.

I have been trying to sort out a gallery program, but this is taking some doing! I am testing it all out, but I also want to make sure it is going to be user friendly and not have more features than we really need.
